After many years of working directly with people of diverse backgrounds, I am seeking to broaden my experience. For this reason, I am excited for this journey. I would very much like to be considered as a strong candidate. The position would allow me the opportunity to utilize my experience obtained as mental health/substance abuse counselor. In this capacity I have worked with both teenagers and adults diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illness. Additional experience includes providing mental health/substance abuse assessments, individual, family and group therapy to both inpatient and outpatient clients needing services in a variety of capacities (i.e. domestic violence, sexual trauma, substance abuse treatment, depression). In these positions, I have succeeded in empowering my client’s individual growth through coordination with both community and professional supports involved in his/her life. Although much of my experience is in the mental health and substance abuse field, I believe much of my experience is transferable, specifically in the areas of understanding the importance of team work, encouragement, support, empowerment and client support. I am confident that my experience and personable disposition would be an asset to the team.
