Whatever you are dealing with, know that I am here, to support you and help you figure things out. I believe strongly in encouraging self-empowerment, focusing on choices and their results. Central to my theoretical orientation (Person-Centered, Existentialist) is a focus on CBT, being solution-focused, as well as encouraging mindfulness.
I approach therapy by adopting a stance of confronting situations non-judgmentally and with compassion, acknowledging that the work is about the life of whoever it is with whom I am working. My practice is built around partnership with my clients, working hard to establish the therapeutic alliance, taking cues of direction, pace and depth from the people with whom I work, and allowing for immediacy to inform what is and is not working.
Someone who may choose to work with me is someone who feels motivated to change, to find that their own power may be covered up, and then working collaboratively to restore and empower that sense!
Areas of clinical expertise include chemical dependency, stress and anger management, life adjustments, veterans’ issues, intimate and non-intimate partner abuse, crisis prevention and intervention, long-term illnesses and palliative counseling.
