"Delivering mental health treatment without Measurement-Based Care (MBC) is like flying an airplane without instruments. Knowledge of the patient’s progress and awareness of the patient’s perception of the therapist and the treatment can guide the course of therapy to ensure optimal outcomes." -Bruce E. Wampold

Measurement Based Care

Measurement-Based Care is the routine assessment of patients’ responses to treatment so the therapist can fine-tune therapy.

Measurement-Based Care has been shown to increase patient engagement and improve clinical outcomes.

Measurement-Based Care is recommended as an evidence-based practice by the American Psychological Association and the American Psychiatric Association.

Despite the benefits of Measurement-Based Care, less than 20% of therapists use it because it is burdensome to implement.

CarePaths Connect makes Measurement-Based Care practical by automatically collecting patient data.

Getting Started with Measurement Based Care

• Patient downloads CarePaths Connect app

• CarePaths Connect prompts patients to complete progress tracking assessments

• Weekly and alliance measures are captured

• Therapist reviews results in patient chart

• Therapist can turn off Measurement Based Care for select or all patients

What will change in my patient interaction?
The only thing that will change is that your clients will automatically be asked to complete certain self-assessments before their sessions (and occasionally after). Their responses over time will be made available to you in an easy-to-read graph. You can use this data to modify your clinical approach as you see fit.
How do I start using it?
By registering for CarePaths Connect, you will automatically be enrolled in the Practice Improvement Network. If you don’t want to participate, you will be given a chance to opt out of having assessments automatically sent to your patients the first time you log in to the new app.
Is this geared towards new or experienced therapists?
It is our belief that all clinicians no matter what their level of experience can greatly improve their clinical effectiveness by engaging in Measurement-Based Care.
